Arrest Made In North Hollywood Murder Of Tattoo Artist!

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police have made an arrest in connection with the murder of a well-known tattoo artist.

Pebley, also known as Trigz, was found lying on a sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police say Falcon and Pebley got into an argument at a business in the 6300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard that escalated into a physical fight. Both men walked out of the business and

Falcon pulled out a handgun and shot Pebley, according to police.
Falcon was charged Thursday with one count of murder and his bail was set at $2 million.

Say Hello To Katy Perry’s New Purrrfect Tattoo!

'Does this make my gang signs look soft?' Katy Perry reveals new Hello Kitty tattoo on her middle finger

Katy Perry just killed her chances to flip anyone off ever again. The “This Is How We Do” singer revealed a brand-new tattoo on her right middle finger today (October 30) featuring everyone’s favorite cat character: Hello Kitty!

“Does this make my gang signs look soft now?” Perry joked.
(Yes. Yes, it does.)

Just hours before revealing the new ink, Katy sent out a foreshadowing Tweet upon discovering that Hello Kitty shares her astrological sign, shouting “OMG HELLO KITTY IS A SCORPIO TOO ILY!!!”

The Sanrio character historically celebrates her birthday on each November 1. This year the cat-clad third grader is heading over the hill as she turns 40 years old.

We’re curious though… Does Katy remember that Hello Kitty is, in fact, NOT a cat? Also, how does Kitty Purry feel about a competing feline taking up permanent real estate on her mom’s body?

North Carolina teacher has sex with student, gets tattoo with 15-year-old girl’s initials and likeness

The tattoo can be erased, but a criminal record lasts a lifetime. A North Carolina teacher accused of having sex with a high school student in a ménage à trois with her husband also got a tattoo with 15-year-old girl’s initials and likeness, police allege.

Durham County Sheriff's executed a search warrant on Thursday to seize computers, cellphones and take a photo of Michelle Smith White, 37, of Durham, N.C. White was charged in July with taking indecent liberties and sexual offense with a student at Jordan High School, the News & Observer reported.

White, a dance teacher at the school for 18 years until she resigned in April, formed a friendship with the girl, then 15, beginning in 2012. Police allege the relationship grew sexual, lasted until June and may have involved trysts with White’s husband, WRAL reported.

Text messages between the teacher and student included “the wording ‘threesome’ and alluding to the involvement of Ms. White’s husband Phillip White,” the warrant stated.
Husband Phillip White has yet to be charged. Investigators were told to photograph White’s tattoo, which showed the girl's name, initials and an "artist rendering which would be symbolic of

Two photos of the couple and the teen were found on the bedroom wall of White’s home, along with handwritten correspondence in a binder, according to the warrant.

Police said the girl’s parents told the teacher to stop texting their daughter, now 16, in April.
The teacher was suspended by the school twice — once in 2012 and again in April before she resigned, according to the News & Observer.

DIY Tattoos: Trend Or Trouble?

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Chances are you probably know someone with a tattoo: stats show one in five adults has one. Now, personal body art is getting really personal as more people choose to ink themselves or have someone else do it for them right at home.

While “DIY tattoos” allow for ultimate creativity, critics say the trend can be really risky.
From head to toe, Robin Marquis loves her tattoos. She inked some herself and also had friends do some for her at home.

“I think having the experience of having a tattoo at home is really awesome!” Marquis said.

The National Tattoo Association says those “at home experiences” are a growing trend, a trend that gives them growing concerns.

“It’s a trade that needs to be taught and if you’re not taught properly you’re not going to be doing proper work,” said Sailor Bill Johnson from the National Tattoo Association.

The association says it’s becoming easier to get a tattoo outside a licensed and inspected shop. Just go online and you’ll find directions on how to tattoo with a sewing needle.

There are even YouTube videos that show how to make your own tattoo gun.
Complete DIY kits can also be purchased on the web, containing needles, ink possibly even an electronic tattoo machine. No experience necessary.

“Are they clean? Are they keeping things sterile? Are they using the proper procedures? Are they using the proper ink,” Johnson asked.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration takes complaints about tattoo ink related infections, but doesn’t track how many infections are related specifically to “do it yourself tattoos”.
However, a report of an infection from contaminated ink sparked a recent recall of some online kits.

Using unsterile equipment can be dangerous, especially to people with compromised immune systems. “If the infection spreads systemically into the bloodstream it could become a life threatening situation. It could also threaten the limb if the infection is very deep-seated in the soft tissue,” said

Dr. Amesh Adalja, MD Infectious Disease Specialist. Adalja warns that with any tattoo you need to know there are risks involved. “You’re breaching your skin, you’re breaching a part of your immune system to apply this tattoo, so everything needs to be sterile,” Adalja said.

Nicole West creates and sells home tattoo kits. She got a certification for infection control and tries to help “do it yourselfers” as safely as possible. She equipped her kits with medical gloves, sterile needles and ink, alcohol wipes and information on how to prevent diseases.

“I decided to start making these kits because I know people who stick and poke using random, you know, objects around the house not necessarily the best thing for creating a tattoo,” West said.
Marquis says she feels safe and has never had a problem with any of her “do it at home” tattoos. And each one is a reminder of a special time in her life.

“Having my community members, my family, my partners use my body as a canvas I think is a unique thing that you don’t get from being in a studio with a tattoo artist you may not know,” Marquis said.

The National Tattoo Association says tattooing is not just about having sterile equipment but proper training, which it says comes with experience and oversight. For more information about home tattoos and do it yourself tattoos see the FDA’s website

Robin Williams's Daughter Zelda Unveils New Tattoo to Honor Her 'Poppo!!

Robin Williams might be gone too soon, but daughter Zelda Williams is making sure his memory lives on – with every handshake.

On Wednesday, the late actor's only daughter unveiled a touching tattoo she had inked on her right hand to memorialize the Oscar-winning actor, who committed suicide Aug. 11 at age 63.

"For poppo," she captioned a black-and-white Instagram shot featuring a hummingbird in flight, with her father's birthdate – 7/21/51 – inked below it.

"I'll always put my hand out to shake with a smile," she also wrote in the caption, after thanking Dr. Woo of Hollywood's Shamrock Social Club tattoo parlor "for so beautifully bringing my reminders to life."

Zelda, 25, has spoken out sporadically since her father's death, including on World Mental Health Day, Oct. 10, when she urged people suffering from depression to seek help.

Zelda also spoke movingly about her father on her Tumblr page just a day after his death.

"Dad was, is and always will be one of the kindest, most generous, gentlest souls I've ever known," she wrote. "And while there are few things I know for certain right now, one of them is that not just my world, but the entire world is forever a little darker, less colorful and less full of laughter in his absence. We'll just have to work twice as hard to fill it back up again."
