The portraits sewn belonged to those who have left a mark on his life — family, friends, partners and teachers.
“Their lives have been interwoven with
mine.”, says Cata. “Every moment lived stays in the memory to finally be
forgotten. Somehow, this fact is painful, since there are only material
things & traces that people leave behind”.
David Cata’s woven fleshwork is a unique
& praiseworthy performance art that shows the reality that people
come and go, and whatever memories they’ve left, whether painful or
sweet, will stay embedded into our lives (just like a tattoo) FOREVER.
:’-) Without these people, we wouldn’t be who we are now.
Whew! Wonder how that felt! >_<
Have an inspiring day, everyone! Make the memories count. ;-)
