“When we get back to Chicago, we’ll get him tatted up for life,” La Stella said in the afterglow of his victory.
Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta is
proud of the time he spent as a hurler for the TCU Horned Frogs, but his
loyalty to his alma mater is coming at a hefty price this week.
According
to a report from Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago, Arrieta is going to be
getting a new tattoo after TCU lost to Coastal Carolina in the
semi-finals of the College World Series. Coastal Carolina, who will play
the University of Arizona this week for the championship, is the alma
mater of Cubs infielder Tommy La Stella, and he won a bet with Arrieta
that will see the loser get the tattoo of the opposing team in the game.
“When we get back to Chicago, we’ll get him tatted up for life,” La Stella said in the afterglow of his victory.
Unfortunately
for La Stella, he didn’t get away unscathed in the friendly wagering.
He will have to dress up as the Horned Frogs’ mascot since TCU did beat
Coastal Carolina in a game earlier in the tournament.
Arrieta
already has some sentimental ink, with tattoos honoring his kids and
his wife Brittany, but this trip to the tattoo parlor will be a
decidedly less happy affair for the star pitcher.
