Tattoo artist accused of animal cruelty after tattooing dog

The bull terrier pup seems to have tattoos on its nose, ears and even underneath its eyes – allegedly created by its owner, tattoo artist Emerson Damasceno, from Poços de Caldas in Brazil.

The artist has been accused of animal cruelty – after internet users reacted with fury to shocking images which appear to show his dog’s FIVE inkings.

The alarming pictures were first spotted by Brazilian lawyer Fernanda Soares – and were later deleted by Damasceno after social media users erupted in anger.
Bizarrely, the tattoo artist claimed he inked the dog because he believed the tattoos – of stars, an anchor, a knuckleduster and the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team logo – would protect the animal from cancer.

In addition, several prominent vets confirmed that tattooing the dog had no obvious benefits, and in fact might even cause problems.
Damasceno later deleted his profile from Facebook and other social media accounts. It is unclear if police are investigating.
