Check Out Marvel Comics Versions Of Classic Hip-Hop Album Covers

By: Peter Helman

Earlier this year, a few Marvel Comics issues worked Run The Jewels’ fist-and-gun logo into their covers. Now, Marvel is diving even deeper into the world of hip-hop with a series of over 50 variant covers inspired by various classic and contemporary rap albums. “For years, Marvel Comics and hip-hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialogue,” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said in press release. “Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces.” The series pays tribute to artists like the Wu-Tang Clan, Notorious B.I.G., A Tribe Called Quest, A$AP Rocky, and more, and you can check out the first batch in the gallery above via Uproxx and BuzzFeed. (Apparently all of the comics are issue #1 because Marvel is rebooting their universe in a new Secret Wars crossover. Yeah, comic books, man.)
