Clippers' Redick on his tattoos: 'I like the way a sleeve looks'

Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick recently partook in a mailbag for Clippers.com before the Clippers play the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day, and was asked about the tattoo sleeve he's developing on his left arm this season.

According to Dan Woike of the Orange County Register, Redick's tattoo is of the Four Evangelists -- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, who are attributed with the creation of the four Gospel accounts in the New Testament.

Redick: “I like the way a sleeve looks, I guess that’s part of it. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a few years. Probably a half truth, half joking, but the tattoo that’s existing on my left forearm I’ve hated since I got it, so it was a way to kind of cover that up to get a whole sleeve.”
Redick's answer in the mailbag was much simpler:

Instead of lasering off the tattoo -- which is even more expensive and doesn't always work -- Redick decided to camouflage it with more tattoos. It's a bold move that conflicts with Redick's clean-cut image, but one not totally surprising given the fact that Redick already had a few smaller tattoos.
Whatever he's doing is working, though, as Redick is shooting a career-high 46.1 percent on 3-pointers this season.
